Literature Text

I've seen Angels.
Their wings unfurl slowly,
exposing grey sallow skin.
Bone protrude through skin,
pressing outwards.
No glimmer in their eyes,
only dull matte.
Their souls have gone.
They sweep across the sky,
bringing stench,
bringing death.
Bringing darkness,
every light extinguished,
swallowed and smothered
by eternal dank.
Flutter down onto landings,
a quiet sweep across the land.
Slow death,
last breath,
from any who cross their path.
They are the misunderstood,
long tendrils of smoke
curl around their heads as halos do.
I've seen Angels,
these Angel's in dreams
to only become reality,
when the candle blows out.
The lights are gone,
and soon they come.
These Angels,
fallen.
Dead to the world,
unknownst to most.
Angels misunderstood.
Meaning no harm,
but reckless in their plight.
Feeding on fear,
feeding on light.
Until there is none.

Don't be afraid.
this is different for me...but...alas...maybe a new direction is what i need.

I was attracted to the opening line "I've seen angels". Its has a good ring to it.
